The Trainer’s Workshop will be an advanced topic event for those trainers, coaches and gym owners who have already attended our Foundations of Nutrition Workshop. Our goal is to help those in a leadership role develop their nutritional coaching abilities, based on our principles, templates and experience.

During the Trainer’s Workshop, Whole9 will be covering the following topics:

1. Introduction:

  • “But I’m just here to exercise” – how to impress upon your clients the importance of good nutrition
  • Your clients’ health and fitness goals – getting their mindset, focus and habits right from the start
  • Your role as not only a fitness trainer, but a leader and mentor.

2. Basic Concepts:

  • Practice explaining our foundational nutrition concepts (metabolism, inflammation, food choices) in a way your clients can understand
  • How to translate super-science-y material into an easy-to-implement action plan for all your clients

3. Nutrition Evaluation Skills:

  • A discussion of Whole9’s new MealSimple™ guide
  • How we review our clients’ nutritional logs
  • A group review of sample food logs
  • Spotting common errors, flaws and patterns in your clients’ daily nutrition

4. Sustainability:

  • How to incorporate ongoing nutrition focus in your gym
  • The role of challenges, seminars and workshops
  • Avoiding common (but often seen) errors in making nutrition a sustainable, gym-wide practice

This event also includes a half-day presentation by Dutch Lowy, detailing:

  • Goals:  How to set them and why they are important to achieving... everything!
  • Getting Strong: How to, and simple strength programming.
  • Power Output, and how it relates to increased performance.
  • Creating higher power workouts
  • Scaling
  • Sustainability
  • Fitting it all into a class setting
  • Individualizing
  • Questions & Answers

In addition, all registered trainers will have the opportunity to participate in a small group coaching session (led by Dutch) as a part of your registration package.  Details for coaching sessions to follow via email once you've registered.

Workshop Details:

Trainer’s Workshops run a full day in length (with an hour for lunch and/or elective training), and are limited to 30 people to ensure all attendees receive personalized attention. Note, the Whole9 Foundations of Nutrition Workshop is a mandatory prerequisite for attendance at a Trainer’s Workshop. (Sorry, but a CrossFit Nutrition Certification or attendance at another nutrition seminar is not an acceptable substitute.)

You do not have to be a certified trainer to register. We welcome anyone who wants a better understanding of how to teach fundamental nutritional concepts to friends, family members and future clients.

We ask that all trainers bring one representative day of a nutrition log – a client’s, a friends or your own – for analysis. Logs can be prepared in whatever format is easiest (FitDay, Daily Plate, Excel document, hand-written, etc.) Trainers should bring one printed copy of their log to the workshop event.
